Declan Rice contract situation
So today the media are saying he has turned down an offer for the third time.

That raises 3 questions in my mind..

How much does he want?

How much does he deserve?

How much is the club offering?

Sort it out ffs

Leaving off my claret and blue specs; surely Rice is waiting to see how the season pans out before making his decision. Why wouldn't he? No point in going elsewhere for CL football if WHU provides it. No point in talking to ManU if they are out of Europe and we're not. The days of Chelsea paying mega-money may well be over but City or Liverpool might be interested. If I was him I'd be telling everyone to leave me alone till May.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
I think the consensus is:
He is being offered around £200k per week.
There is an amicable agreement that he is going nowhere next season.
He is contracted to 2024 with a clause that enables the club to extend by one year unilaterally.

It makes no sense selling him now given his contract - wait u til the WC has run and his value rises further

Souness is an absolute dickhead who has never been impressed by Declan Rice because he cannot see beyond Liverpool. In fact, most of the time it seems like he just likes Liverpool and not the actual sport of football.. Stuck in the 80's dinosaur wanker.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
According to Souness in the S Times about 5 clubs are either interested in him or should be! Don't want to see him leave but suddenly £150m looks the very bottom price we should accept.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
I’d love him to stay for at least another year, next few weeks will have a big impact on if he does or not.

Can’t see him going to PSG, even if they did offer ridiculous amounts of money. I see their fans started leaving their last game 15 minutes early - and that was to confirm them as champions. The team didn’t do a lap of honour and the ground was empty 10 minutes after the final whistle. Joke club and the players who go there can’t really be seen as serious footballers - all chasing money or cheap titles.

I would love it if he decided to stay at the club. The trouble is his agent father is a Chelsea season ticket holder, the family live near Chelsea training ground,Declan wants to win things, and our owners are a bunch of cunts.

Good luck Dec. I wish you well personally but not the club you end up at.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
He is going no where this summer.

Earliest is he leaves in Jan after the World Cup.

Man city will buy haaland in the summer so won’t get rice.

Liverpool can’t afford him

Chelsea won’t be allowed to buy anyone

Man Utd doing a rebuild and will want rice. He will play well with Maguire so seems a good fit for them. Rice also talked them up.
I think Man Utd are a risk for us but not totally sure Rice will want to go there now. Maybe in 12 months time.

Other options are Barca / Real or PSG

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Not even sure why they are discussing it without knowing our European status next year. No reason for him to talk at all until he knows that. IF we qualify for the Champions League, then I actually think it is in Rice's best interests to sign a new deal (with a release clause) and increase his earnings for the 1-2 season he will stay with us. If we dont, then he could still leave this summer if someone is willing to get a massive cheque book out.

If rumours of arsenal after Jesus I would guess one of the deals is Calvert lewin

Also as other said 2025 so he is in no rush.

Rice will end up at City most likely I expect and will stay at West Ham for one more season

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
If we get European football I would expect him to stay. That is probably why he is not renewing until we get that.

Same interview he said he wanted to stay close to family and friends who live in and around London, so certainly at the time of the interview Chelsea were the obvious option. Now though a lot of uncertainty there. So after saying that would he go to Liverpool or City? Anyone who goes to United right now would be taking a risk. Abroad unlikely again "if" his comments about family were right. Pessimists will probably bring up the "loyalty" to Ireland thing, so who knows.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
For a player like Rice 200k a week is the going rate.

He’s our best player by miles and club captain.

Yarmalenko is on 115 a week. He will be gone end of this season.

Even if you Chuck the wages of an ex fringe player like Yarmalenko at Rice on top of his current wage that would put him on over 150 a week.

It’s more than believable imo.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Boleyn

We are paying yarmalenko 115k a week.

Hernandez was on 140.

Our wage bill is nowhere near what it was under Pellegrini.

Can’t see why 200k a week for a player of Rices calibre is unbelievable?

boleyn8420 5:25 Sat Apr 23
Re: Declan Rice contract situation
200k a week at West ham, bwahahahahaha, as much credence as all these crap transfer rumours. Apparently West ham working on two major summer deals. Yes they are, selling Rice and Bowen

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Is it all about the money? I got the impression that it was as much about wanting to win things and playing at the top level.

Obviously though the number of clubs that can afford him and offer him top level football is very limited. Man United's defeat today pretty rules them out of Champions League for next season, which will limit both their budget and their attractiveness to ambitious players for next season.

Just Chelsea, Man City and overseas clubs to worry about now!

"If the Dildo Duo's business plan is continuous PL survival each season, then that is all they will spend/budget for"

We will see. If true then Rice leaving will be of little concern to them and big spending may be predicated on that. Who knows how much otherwise they'll be willing to spend or even if they have targets lined up - they didn't have either in January.

200k a week if true apparently would him in the top 20 players in the premier league

I mean that is a massive statement

Unless my website is wrong Kane is also on 200k a week
